Fenders for The Fenderless!
Fenderless cars look cool, but they have one drawback--no
fenders. Fenders are meant to safely deflect whatever the tires pick up
off of the road; rocks, water, roadkill, etc. Remove the big wing-sized
fenders from an early Ford to achieve that "Hot Rod" look, and
you leave yourself (and your car) vulnerable to the slings and arrows of
cruising fortune. If only you could have it both ways...
You can!
How about custom-made, motorcycle-style fenders, attached
to the brake backing plates?
The back plate of the fender is constructed with a double
wall for strength. This will help keep it from flexing and twisting under
high-speed airflow.
