Upcoming Car Shows and Events
Support Your Local Car Show!
If you're like us, you'll be at every car-related event you can this year. Here we will be compiling and maintaining a list of events we find out about. Feel free to email us with any events you hear about along with a link to the event flyer and we'll get it posted.
We'll list both San Diego and southern California events as well as those a bit further afield so that you road warriors can plan.
Also, just in case we miss anything, we invite you to view the Calendar page on the Car Club Council of San Diego's website at: http://www.carclubcouncilofsandiego.com/

Immortalized!

Distinction Art Gallery and Hot Rods & Custom Stuff Announce Immortalized: Together Forever – Hot Rods, Pinups & Body Art
Hot Rods & Custom Stuff is pleased to announce that for the third year, we’ll be supporting local art gallery, Distinction Art and their Immortalized series of art exhibits. We’ve been honored to produce a “show within a show” by collecting exceptional cars to be put in the spotlight, on special display on Grand Avenue right in front of the gallery. These collections reflect the theme of the art exhibits inside the gallery and this year’s theme of Together Forever - Hot Rods, Pinups and Body Art will make for some very interesting reflections, to say the least. Years past have featured America’s Most Beautiful Roadster (AMBR) contenders, nitro-fuel-burning dragsters, hot rod personalities (and their vehicles), magazine feature and cover cars, one of a kinds, and, in general, the best of the best. This year will be no exception.
Distinction Gallery will offer exhibited art for auction and the proceeds will go to charity. The car show will take place on Friday, August 9th on Grand Avenue in Escondido, between Juniper and Ivy Streets between 5 pm and 8 pm. Hot Rods & Custom Stuff is proud to support this local effort and we’ll be announcing more details here as they formulate. For a look at the two previous years’ Immortalized shows, see our posts here on our Latest Stuff webpage, or click on these two links:

Deuce Day!
HR&CS Supports the 2013 San Diego Deuce Day Event

Hot Rods & Custom Stuff is proud to be a sponsor of the 2013 edition of San Diego Deuce Day to be held on Saturday, October 5th at Escondido’s Felicita Park. The show, open to ’32 Fords and other marques only, is a low-key, non-judged, for-fun event that will bring out some of the best Deuces in southern California, and beyond. Due to the size of the park, the event is limited to the first one hundred cars. The dog-friendly park does, however offer paved parking, a shaded picnic area with tables, clean facilities, and easy access to San Diego, Orange County, LA, and the Inland Empire. A $20 registration fee will get you and all of your Deuce’s passengers entry to the event and a custom dash plaque. Event T-shirts, designed by renowned automotive artist Steve Waldron will be available, as will a BBQ lunch offered by Jim and Jan Sheridan’s Country Inn Catering – the best BBQ in southern California.

43rd Antique Nationals

The Antique Nationals “nostalgia” drags ‘n’ car show is Forever Four’s long-running annual event. Throughout its 43-year history, the Antique Nationals has outlived a few drag strips. After the closing of Orange County International Raceway, and later Los Angeles County Raceway; Fontana, California’s Auto Club Speedway played host to the event until that facility’s drag strip was also closed, at least for the temporary time being. Most recently, the event was held on the 8th-mile tarmac of the new Irwindale Speedway.
The Antique Nationals is touted as the original “nostalgia” drag racing event, which sounds about right to us too. If you’re into vintage racing engines, this is your event, as it brings out an excellent variety of pre-’54 racecars, hot rods and motorcycles—the kind of stuff you might not see every weekend.

The date is set for June 2, 2013, once again at the new Irwindale Speedway.
