Immortalized 2014 - Timeless Idols: Pinups & Pinstripes

Immortalized: Timeless Idols – Pinups & Pinstripes

Once again, Hot Rods & Custom Stuff was proud to sponsor ArtHatch’s annual exhibition of automotive related art titled Immortalized.  This year’s subtitle was Timeless Idols – Pinups & Pinstripes. We were tasked with collecting some of the most unique hot rods and customs in southern California.  (That’s part of our name, isn’t it?)  We also brought some of the cars out of our own shop, like Randy’s luscious ’65 Riviera and Peaches’ bodacious ’32 Fordor. Also, Andy Meeh, our lead painter, contributed several art pieces for the exhibit – and took home a “Best of Show” award for his troubles.

Grand Avenue in downtown Escondido was closed to through traffic on the block in front of ArtHatch’s gallery and we were able to display the collection of about 30 cars with plenty of room for viewing.  Car participation was by invitation only and the selection was made based on quality, uniqueness, and the vehicle’s correlation to the Immortalized theme. The staff of ArtHatch chose Kostas Bikakis’s outrageous ’56 Ford F100 pickup truck as their “Best In Show” since it best epitomized the pinups and pinstripes theme of Immortalized this year.  We heartily agree with their choice.  Our pictures of all of the participating vehicles can be found by following this link: CLICK HERE.

ArtHatch had their in-house photographer, Brandy Sebastian, capturing the evening as well, and those pictures (over 300 of them) can be found at: CLICK HERE.  Just click the link, enter your email address (you’re not signing up for junk mail), and click on the red “continue” block.

The backbone of the Immortalized event is an exhibit of original automotive-related art. The art is up for auction at ArtHatch’s online site http://www.distinctionart.com/exhibitions.php and we invite you to view the pieces that are available and make your bid to add one (or more) to your collection.  Each piece is unique and is likely to increase in value over time. A portion of the proceeds from the auction are used for Distinction's annual art scholarship donation for Palomar College students.

We’d like to thank the car owners, who donated their time and allowed us the pleasure of viewing their fantastic creations, the ladies who came out dressed to kill in their pinup attire, the exhibiting artists, and the staff of ArtHatch, who together combined to produce an exhibit that was truly IMMORTALIZED!
