Beauty and The Beasts

camera as the '49 emerges from the fabrication shop. The only thing left
to do is take her apart and apply make-up to our little beauty. Only question
is, can we do it in time for Detroit?
Once apart, the bodyshop will have its turn to smooth out
the blemishes and sand her down.
Here you can clearly see the sectioning the went into lowering
the hood profile. The grill is stock, and will require some work in the
body shop, except for the lower piece, which was replaced with by a look-alike
milled in our shop from solid aluminum. This new bottom grill piece, secured
to the frame, will act as a bumper. The rear license plate surround is the
original one that used to be on the front of the car.
The profile certainly is a lot different from the original,
even though the chopping and sectioning was not all that radical.
Also milled from a single piece of aluminum is the lower windshiled
trim, which shows up nice in this pic.
