Getting Blasted
Plastic media is used to gently strip the paint and surface
rust without damaging the metal surfaces.
These photos show how effective stripping with plastic-media
is and how smooth a surface it leaves.
Plastic media, shot at low pressure (about 25 psi), will remove
paint and light surface rust without pitting, stretching or otherwise damaging
the surface of the metal. Before blasting, parts must be completely degreased
to prevent contamination of the media. About the only material that cannot
be stripped using this method is wood, which is too soft and contaminates
the media as it breaks down. Media is re-used several times and recycled.
