1968 Camaro - Interior
The finished interior looks much more stock than the original
movie car, which had the gauges mounted where the Vintage Air and Stereo
controls are now. The center console was altered to match the original but
has difference which you can compare with the photos on page one of this
article.
Another difference is the roll cage. The original car had
a full race roll cage with a bar that crossed the center line of the door.
According to Paul LeMat, that made it difficult to get in and out of.
I wonder what those switches do....? But that Hurst shift
knob is connected to a 6-speed Dark Horse Performance Inc., GM T56 Tremec
Transmission.
The Recaro seats come equipped with 5-point restraints by
Crow Enterprises.
Paul LeMat, who played "Bobby" in the movie, signed
Randy's center console when they met at the Temecula Cruise held on Oct
6th and 7th, 2006.
Those back seat cusions are pretty comfy... if you can get
into them. At least you have something to hold onto once you're there.
