Normaly we use "paste in" type insulations. This
time we're trying something new.
Cool Car, LLC., makes a spray-in ceramic insulation that goes
by the name "Lizard Skin."
This single container product is comprised of 80% air-filled,
microscopic, ceramic and silicon beads that are held in suspension by acrylic
latex with resin binders. Not only does this allow it to be sprayed on with
a paint gun, it give the product both sound and temperature insulation characteristics.
It is also flexible enough that it will not split, crack, blister or peel
if properly applied, say the manufacturer. Sound is reduced 10 to 12 decibles
and temperature reduction is about 30 degrees.
