The one really bad patch has been cut out and patches with
new metal which will be sanded and blended.
One issue for Mr Kalter was the "Fit & Finish".
He wanted his 300 to look like today's precision assembled cars where all
the parts are laser cut and robot installed with such precision that all
the body gaps are perfectly matched. On a 50-year-old car that means a little
extra work. Removing a little metal here, adding a bit there... and doing
by hand what is done by machine today.
Lots of sanding.
