Tailgate First.

SSR tailgate before alteration.

Scott, after looking at the front fenders, decides to ease into the project by doing the tailgate first.

1953 Tailgate panel.

A Chevy pickup just wouldn't be the same without "Chevrolet" stamped into the tailgate, so we're going to rectify that.

The "Chevrolet" panel with the classic lettering came out of an original 1953 tailgate.

In case you're wondering where we got the "Chevrolet" panel with the classic lettering, it came out of an original 1953 tailgate (new/old stock).

Original '52 tailgates were flat.

Side view showing curvature.

The trick of this installation is lies in the curvature of the SSR tailgate. Original '52 tailgates were flat. A lot of care had to be taken to matcht curves without over-bending it. Because of the lettering , you can't just throw it on an English Wheel to get the job done.

Welds in back onf tailgate.

Very cool!
