Two Scoops, Please!

1956 Chevy Nomad, engine compartment

Nothing helps set off an engine compartment like a cool air intake, and nothing beats a custom one.

Mock-up of air-cleaner

A paper mock-up comes first and will be used as a template for the sheetmetal.

Sheet metal pieces of air cleaner. Welding it all together.

Getting the metal to assume the shape indicated in the artists concept was trickier than it looked at first. If you don't think metal-shaping is an art in it's own right, making one of these yourself.
