Got Wood?

Right side body panel. Left side body panel.

These rear body panels show the condition of the wood pretty well. The wood will need refinishing or replacement, but how much is is hard to tell. That will be left up to Iron Mountain Woodworks in Gardena, California.

New wood pieces.

On this side some of the wood was salvageable while other pieces were not and had to be replaced. All of thes replacement pieces have to be made by hand at Iron Mountain using the originals as templates.

Old wood veneer New wood veneer.

Even back in 1939 they used wood veneer. The Veneer on this panel (left) will be replaced with the new stuff on the right.

Pieces waiting for varnish to dry. Finished pieces stacked.

Various finished pieces hung up to dry.

Finished side body frames.

Can you tell the new pieces from the refinished ones?
