1950 Mercury Coupe - Restoration Begins.

50 Merc in body shop.

Unfortunately that rather cool looking yellow and gold paint job has to go.

Body being prepped for sanding Sanding begins.

Merc body being sanded. Rosalio sands the hood.

A vigorous application of sandpaper and elbow grease gets the work done in short order. Once the paint is off the prep work for the paint can begin. Additional primer and sealer and more sanding get the body ready for its new colors.

Paint is sanded off. Prepping body for new paint.

Fenders and hood come off. Adam Beck prepares to modify the dash and bumper guards.

Back in the fabrication shop, Adam prepares to modify the dash and the bumper guards. The dash will have a lower extension panel added to it for the the Vintage Air controls and vents. The bumper guards will be "miniturized".

Frame ready for paint. Body gets initial base coat.

Time to start painting. The frame gets and underside get painted first. Then it is into the downdraft booth for some PPG Indigo blue paint.

Ready for assembly. Lizard Skin insulation on interior.

Once the paint is on, the interior of the body is sprayed with Lizard Skin insulation. With that done, it is ready for assembly.
