Big Dog
This is no small vehicle. The bottom part of the body kit
is heavy-gauge steel and provides solid feel and weight to the truck when
it is sitting on the ground. It took a couple weeks to prep the frame and
get it ready for mounting the body. Extra modifications were required to
accomodate the motor and transmission desired by the customer. While we
are using a few of the "donor" parts from the original truck,
most of the parts needed to complete the vehicle will be new.
Saff, the primary builder on this project, takes one of the
many measurements needed to make everything fit together. Among the donor
truck parts we did use is the brake pedal assembly. To the right is a Lokar
gas pedal assembly. Both are being mocked up to decide the best mounting
position.
The frame suspension was set with a 4-inch lift. The motor
is a 1998 Chevy 7.4 liter Vortec. The shocks used are top-of-the-line Bilsteins.
In the picture on the right you can see the end of the ididt column hooked
up to the stock GM box with Flaming River linkage. The offset is neccesary
because of the narrow frame and wide body combination.
