Top Chop - 29 Ford

Like all these early coupes, they tend to look a bit funky till you chop them to a reasonable height. This one is going to get about 2-inches taken off the top. The first step is to remove the chicken wire.

It's a good idea to draw the line you're going to cut and make sure it's straight and even.

Bracing is required to keep everything from getting twisted out of shape during the process.

A strip of 2-inch wide masking tape is wrapped around the top using the drawn line as a reference. Then 1-inch wide tape is laid using the edges of the first tape as a guide before is removed. The metal between the two strips of tape is what will be removed.
