1964 Chevrolet Chevelle "Malibu" Convertible - Engine
and Engine Compartment.
With most customs, the object is to clean up the engine compartment
as much as possible and remove the "clutter" that often distracts
attention from the engine. There are a number of ways to do this.
One way is to remote the power brake unit. In this case the
Kugel dual brake aluminum master cylinder is hidden under the dash. All
that will be sticking out of the firewall is an aluminum Kugel dual reservior
fill. All the hoses and hardware that go with the master cylinder are tucked
behind the firewall as well. Doing this opens up the space on both sides
of the engine.
Wiring and AC hoses are routed do that they can be hidden
as well. Some custom panels in the front corners of the fenders help to
hide them instead of routing them back to the firewall.
Billet aluminum hood hinges from Fesler are compact and look
good, too.
A Be Cool aluminum radiator with dual electric fans will keep
the motor cool.. To the left of the radiator is an aluminum recovery tank.
Flaming River u-joints, steering shafts, and support bearings
provide smooth steering and control.
Custom plates will close up the A-arm cut-outs in the wheel
well as much as possible, while allowing them to travel normally.
