A Flare for Fenders!
If you were paying attention to the artist concept drawings,
you might have noticed the flared fenders. Time to make that happen.
The wire forms are to provide a visual reference for the fabricators.
Once they are properly placed, measurements are made for later use.
The area inside the taped outline will be cut of the original
fender and replaced with new panel made from an aftermarket replacement
fender.
Scott cuts up the Dynacorn aftermarket fender.
On the left is the panel made from the Dynacorn fender. On
the right, Scott cuts out the old fender panel. The replacment panel is
longer than the cut Scott is making. The "flare" will be achieved
by creating a "bow" in new panel.
The new panel hangs in place over the cut out.
When cutting the replacement panel Scott left the top edge,
which was cut to match the width of the flare at the top of the wire form.
On the right you can see the flare created by "bowing" the panel
out from the center.
In this photo you can see the extent of the flare in the upper
right corner. The fender and wheel well has been extended out one inch.
