1950 Mercury Coupe - Restoration Begins.
Unfortunately that rather cool looking yellow and gold paint
job has to go.
A vigorous application of sandpaper and elbow grease gets
the work done in short order. Once the paint is off the prep work for the
paint can begin. Additional primer and sealer and more sanding get the body
ready for its new colors.
Back in the fabrication shop, Adam prepares to modify the
dash and the bumper guards. The dash will have a lower extension panel added
to it for the the Vintage Air controls and vents. The bumper guards will
be "miniturized".
Time to start painting. The frame gets and underside get painted
first. Then it is into the downdraft booth for some PPG Indigo blue paint.
Once the paint is on, the interior of the body is sprayed
with Lizard Skin insulation. With that done, it is ready for assembly.
