Custom Flathead V8
If you can believe it, the Merc only had 30,000 original miles
on it when it rolled into the the shop. Even so it was decided to yank the
motor and rebuild the old flathead as part of an overall upgrade of the
powerplant. The motor was sent out to H&H Flatheads for the rebuild.
While there, one of those new Stromberg carb look-alike EFI systems from
RetroTek were installed. So, while this flathead raps out its signiture
tune, it's doing it with the help of computer controlled fuel injection.

Here's a close up of the RetroTek EFI Stromberg setup. Finned
Thickstun intakes cap the effect. If you didn't know better you'd swear
it was an old-time 3/2s carburetor arrangement. The best thing is that you
don't have the hassle of tuning and syncing those carbs to keep the correct
fuel/air ration going into the motor.
The original radiator was re-cored, re-painted and re-inistalled.
Here's a nice look at the engine before we dropped it into
the car.
